Sea Glass Jewelry

Blue Sea Glass Cage NecklaceWhite Sea Glass EarringsGreen Sea Glass PendantComing very soon to Makin the Best Of It…Sea glass jewelry!  Each piece of glass was hand picked from the Jersey Shore and carefully hand wrapped in sterling silver to create one of a kind necklaces, pendants and earrings.  I will be taking my inventory to a show on June 17; but after that I will be listing my creations on Makin the Best Of It.  Each piece will be an individual work of wearable art.

What is sea glass?  Sea glass, beach glass or mermaid’s tears began it’s humble life as glass that was dumped into our oceans.  These glass bottles were broken up by the waves and rocks and frosted to a rich softness by the sea water and sand.  Eventually, these treasures wash up on the beach and are sought after by jewelry artists and collectors.  The most common find, at least in New Jersey is white, brown and green.  Blue is a hard to find color that is coveted by many.  If you are lucky enough to find a yellow, red or orange, you have found a true treasure.

Because sea glass is really broken glass, it is impossible to find exactly matching pieces.  I do everything I can to match earrings as close as possible, however, when you hold them together you will see slight differences in size, shape or shade of color.  This mismatch is what makes sea glass so special. This is also the reason that I can not duplicate a piece.  Each piece of glass is one of a kind and each wrap is done with that piece in mind.  Trust me, if you purchase a piece of glass art you will never see it anywhere else!

Stay tuned after June 17 for my debut of my Sea Glass Wearable Art!
